Founder of Genies Center of Educational Excellence
With an effervescent personality, a relentless work ethic and a zest for life, Eugene puts as much passion into teaching mathematics and creating innovative curriculums as being a father, friend and mentor.
Born in Minsk, Belarus, he immigrated with his family to San Diego, California when he was 6 years old. He first developed an interest in math from his uncle, a renowned teacher in Belarus.
Their sessions in middle school helped Eugene excel in the classroom, and he gained an appreciation for his uncle’s patient and meticulous teaching approach. That approach quickly rubbed off – as a student at La Jolla High School, Eugene began helping fellow classmates with math in the school library.
When he obtained his driver’s license and a car at age 16, Eugene started an in-home math tutoring service and saw it grow each day through word of mouth thanks to excellent results from his students.
He continued to tutor while enrolled at the University of California-San Diego and founded Genies Center of Educational Excellence upon graduating in 2005.
Eugene understands the importance of helping students succeed in the classroom, but knowing he can be a role model and positively influence others for the rest of their lives is truly inspiring and motivational.
